New York City becomes a parking lot for few weeks in September due to UN General Assembly session. This year marks their 80th anniversary so we have a high expectations that this year will be something special. This year has been registered with 193 member states. Everyone has a voice and everyone has opinion. This guys come around once a year to solve our global issues and make future agendas but New York City becomes parking lot. Maybe this year with a new introduced central business district congestion surcharge we will actually see improvements but we can't bet on it. For a general public, City residents and tourists we recommend making way advanced reservation. We will try to go around east side where majority of closures are. Lots of diplomats stays in the hotels around United Nations Headquarters. Most of Consulates located on the East side in the same area so it becomes hectic. Police divide streets and avenues with barriers. To move freely on the east side during this event is only possible with a special permit that is only being distributed by secret service to a registered vehicle with a specific driver who goes through a background check. All United Nations reservations are based on an hourly basis due to constant all additional modifications that happen during the ride and due to unknown waiting time. We don't have any flashing police lights installed on our vehicles because it's highly illegal but usually when we drive diplomats secret service will attach a red flashing light on a dash. Police escorts are available for this kind of jobs and must be arranged by booker because paperwork must be provided that only can be obtained by a consulate. General Assembly week is very difficult on our drivers so we ask you for patience and early arrangements.
